Covid vaccination site opens in Durham Market Place

11th March 2021

A Covid vaccination site has opened in the centre of Durham.

The new site, at Boots in the Market Place is the second community pharmacy in the city now offering Covid vaccines and is open seven days a week.

People eligible for the vaccine can access free parking at the Prince Bishops Car Park.

Kate Huddart, head of medicines optimisation at NHS County Durham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “It’s fantastic to see another community pharmacy in the city offering people the vaccine and a great example of working together with pharmacy colleagues and the wider primary care team.”

Adam Oxberry, pharmacist vaccination clinical lead at Boots said: “I and our team are thrilled to have been selected as a Boots vaccination site in Durham and are excited to get started. We are incredibly proud to support the NHS to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations to residents in the local community.

“Our store is conveniently located and accessible, and we look forward to welcoming patients to the store over the coming days and weeks, at the forefront of the nation’s vaccination efforts.”

Pictured receiving her vaccine, Ms Langston said she was delighted to receive the vaccine and was looking forward to visiting her brother in hospital.  She said: “the booking was really easy online and so easy to park.”
