Fostering Fortnight

10th May 2021

Anne Greenley, Interim Director of Nursing and Quality for NHS County Durham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is delighted the CCG has been awarded the Fostering Friendly Employer Award by the Fostering Network.  The CCG recognises and values the contribution that foster carers make to the lives of children in care and would like to encourage and support any employer who is considering or already undertaking a fostering role.

Nearly 40 per cent of foster carers combine fostering with other work and the CCG understands that their employees may need some flexibility in their working arrangements in order to embark on their fostering journey or to meet the needs of their fostered child.

The CCG are working closely with County Durham Council and other Health Partners to raise awareness of the importance of fostering during Foster Care Fortnight and to raise the profile of fostering and encourage staff to consider becoming foster carers in order to offer children the care they need.
